Electrician: Upgrades to Offer Customers

Providing an excellent customer experience and leaving home in better condition than you found it should be one of your main goals as an electrician. One way to increase your profit and customer satisfaction is through small electrical upsells of what the customer actually needs or wants.

Here are a few suggested upgrades:

  • Outlets with USB capability
  • Outdoor outlets
  • Dimmer switches
  • Cabinet lighting or display lighting
  • Childproof outlet parents
  • smoke/carbon monoxide detectors
  • A smart thermostat

How to offer upgrades

The best electricians will offer customers a “good,” “better,” and “best” option without trying to convince customers to buy something they don’t need. Another method is to review a list of potential upgrades with a customer at the end of the job. Then, the customer has time to think over the options and call you back.
