While still a high school student, Lisa stumbled upon the book by Richard Bolles, “What Color is Your Parachute,” and her passion for helping others began. As a trained career and job coach, Lisa understands students’ need for support as they navigate the academic and career exploration process, and she works diligently to ensure that students are given every opportunity to achieve career success.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Louisiana State University. She began her professional career as a high school teacher and then moved into higher education where she has served students as an academic advisor, an instructor, and a career and job coach. Lisa was recognized for her past activities including the creation of a retention program and a course in learning frameworks for students experiencing academic difficulty. As a leader in higher education career services, she champions a curriculum integration approach, partnering with faculty and administration to ensure students have multiple opportunities to engage in career readiness activities and programs as part of their college experience.
Lisa is an active member of Louisiana Career Development Association (LCDA) and the National Career Development Association (NCDA), and she served two years as the LCDA President. Under her leadership, LCDA was recognized as an NCDA state division of the year. Lisa often volunteers her services as a speaker and mentors others interested in the field of career coaching. She is excited to be a part of the CareerWaves2 initiative.
